Welcome Back! We are starting to reach the end of our journey together, so you will want to savor these last few moments together. But NO time for tears, we have much to do still!
Once you have created your PVC Room (see part 3 if you thought you could just skip my other posts and jump straight to part 4… ) , you can now ENTER IF YOU DARE…… MUAHAHAHAHA.
Let’s copy the “Moderator Link”. It’s easy enough, just click the “Copy Moderator Link” button. Then open another tab in your browser, and paste it in the URL bar. If you want to enter as a guest, then you will click the drop down arrow next to “Copy Moderator Link”, and use that URL or send that to others.
When you first enter the room, you will be presented with the permissions page. You will enter your name, and check mark your desired camera and microphone access. Then click “continue”.
The second window will ask you to choose which camera you want to use. The options presented in this dropdown option will depend on your personal camera setup.
The last window will ask you to confirm which speaker and microphone you want to use. Like the camera settings, your dropdown options will depend on your setup at your computer.
Once you click, “Join” your in! It’s like being in a very exclusive club with fancy drinks and celebrities! Because you used your moderator link, you will have some extra special controls available to you.
In the top right corner you have the Layouts icon, the Participants List icon, and Room Chat icon.
Layouts: currently there are 13 layouts to choose from and you can change your layout whenever you want while in the room. And everyone sees the same thing on the screen. (NOT available if you enter as a guest)
Participants List: you can see the name of each person that has entered the room, along with the ability to mute their audio and video
Chat: The chat function is available to everyone in the room.
In the bottom center control bar, you have your Microphone icon, Camera Icon, and More Menu icon.
Microphone Icon: Clicking this icon will allow you to audio mute and unmute. You can also click the carrot next to the microphone icon and choose from different source options, if you have multiple microphones connected.
Camera Icon: Clicking this icon will allow you to video mute and unmute. You can also click the carrot next to the camera icon and choose from different source options, if you have multiple cameras connected.
Start Recording: You can record the room while in it, and once you click on “Start Recording”, a little pink dot will appear in the top left corner near the name of your room. If you paid attention in the part 3 post, you know where to retrieve those recordings. (NOT available if you enter as a guest).
Share Screen: The Screen Share option allows you to screenshare an entire screen, a specific application or a specific browser tab.
Full Screen: Will make your video room the entire screen.
Picture-In-Picture: You will see the entire video room, and your personal video feed will appear in the bottom right corner.
I am so proud of you! You did it! You made a PVC! I feel like we need a 80’s freeze frame jump shot to really appreciate this moment! Que “Don't You (Forget About Me)” and throw that fist pump in the air!
